Vitreous black TOURMALINE from the Harney Peak Pegmatite of South Dakota. SCHORL is the black variety of TOURMALINE. The largest Schorl crystal is 1.4 inches in length. There are four smaller partial Schorl crystals on a Quartz and Microcline matrix. If you are looking for a good example of Schorl from the United States then this specimen is it!
