Bentonite Clay Powder
Frontier Herb Cooperative1 oz. Fine white powder.
Also known as Montmorillonite clay, Bentonite is known for its effective healing attributes. It is formed after volcanic ash ages. The largest source comes from Fort Benton, Wyoming where it is named after. Through folk culture, it has been used to detoxify the body, improve digestion, skin tone, and as an anti-inflammatory. Studies have determined it to absorb toxins and cleanse the body of harmful elements. According to Healthline, many use it as a clay poultice, mud pack, or within recipes for bathing and/or skincare. Common in skin creams, diaper rash creams, and sunscreens. In Iran folk culture, it is used as a hair cleanser and softener. It has a velveteen feel, is odorless, and non-staining. Some claim it may boost immunity by fighting off bacteria that can make one sick, cleansing the body of built-up toxins like aluminum, mercury, and lead. It helps the gut absorb more nutrients by increasing the flora in one’s intestines. It has been claimed to possess anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties. According to WebMD, it is used to clean and protect the skin, heal skin infections or acne, treat stomach gas, and ease diarrhea. It is used in medicines and makeup, shampoos, lotions, face masks, toothpaste, and dietary supplements.
We obtain ours from Frontier Herb Collective. It is mined within the United States.
